HAUL: Wildfox Couture, Bath and Body Works, Express

Check out my latest haul video!

On Friday I went to a WILDFOX COUTURE SAMPLE SALE!!! It was so much fun and crazy! I promised myself that I wouldn't go too crazy but saw everybody else with bags and bags of goodies!

Their sweats were $30 as opposed to the usual $100+ that they retail for!
White label were $50 as opposed to the usual $200+!! And tanks and tees were $15 which is a great deal!!

I bought two baggy beach jumpers for a total of $60. They each retail for about $110 though! (I looked it up)

Tips about these kind of sample sales:
  • go early because that is when all the good stuff is still there!
  • Beware of lines though!
  • Wear a tank top under your clothes so that you can try clothes on out in the open (since there isn't a dressing room)
  • Grab as many items as you can that you like at first and then go through them at the very end to sort through the ones you love and want and ones you don't want.
  • Bring Cash just in case because some sample sales are cash only! (this one accepted card though)

Tasty Duck

Celebrated my friend's birthday with 11 other girls at a restaurant called Tasty Duck. If you want a good traditional Chinese style meal, come here!I came with a group of 13 people and we all devoured our 10 dish meal. I didn't do the ordering but my friend did and I believe it was some kind of set menu that included:

The traditional duck platter you see in all the pictures on this review. Very tasty and a must order. Keep in mind duck is super fatty for all your health conscious folks. The duck platter comes with a rice wrap tortilla style thing and you just put the duck in it and some sauce and veggies and eat it like a cute little Chinese style burrito.

Another cold meat platter that included cold white chicken (a Chinese classic dish), jellyfish, beef, and some veggies

Soup - nothing special, just light soup Shrimp and veggies that was nothing special
Sea Cucumber - SO GOOD if you have never tried it before it is pretty unique. It's kind of a jelly/mushroom consistency.. not sure how to explain it
Mushroom and veggies (one of my favorites!)
Eel and sticky rice - very good and popular among yelpers also as I noticed
Pumpkin stuffed boneless chicken - Didn't really like it that much
Steamed Fish - Soy sauce, scallions, parsley, ginger. Also a Classic Chinese Dish and I highly recommend this at most Chinese restaurants. The fish is so smooth and melts in your mouth.
Stir Fried Bean Sprout veggies - nothing special
Dessert soup - nothing special. Most Chinese restaurants serve different dessert soups. This one had sweet rice and egg in it.

Paid about $25 per person for this meal.

Very traditional: the decor has a lot of Chinese paintings, furniture, plates. Even the servers are dressed in traditional Chinese attire.

DUCK! SO GOOD

Cold meat platter: White chicken, beef slices, pickled jellyfish

Full table!

Sea cucumber- personal favorite

Eel over sticky fried rice - VERY GOOD

Steamed fish: a Chinese classic

Boiling Point Hot Pot

This past Saturday I went to Boiling Point Restaurant, which is a Taiwanese hot pot place! I had expected a pot of soup and raw ingredients that you dip into the soup yourself and cook. But instead, I was pleased to see that they give you little stovetops with the pot filled with soup and already all the ingredients cooking right there! You can adjust the spicy levels which is great! And you can add on as much toppings as you want for extra charge of course.
Here is the website with their menu and pictures!

Above: House Special Soup. Tiny SpicyNappa Cabbage, Fermented Tofu, Pork Sliced, Enoki Mushroom, Kamaboko, Meatball, Clam, Quail Egg, Pork Blood, Pork Intestine, Green Nira, Salty Veggies, Tomato. It was delicious! It had fermented tofu AKA Stinky tofu.. Not good for my taste unless you like it haha

My Bf ordered: Beef hot soup. Medium Spicy (spicy but manageable) Nappa Cabbage, Vermicelli, Beef Sliced, Enoki Mushroom, Tomato, Firm Tofu, Tempura, Corn, Meatball, Kamaboko, Fired Tofu Skin, Imitation Crabstick

He also ordered ramen as an add - on!

Here is what it looked like with the little stove tops! All these come with a bowl of rice. And there are 3 sauces: chili oil, soy sauce, fermented bean sauce

Shanghai Pasta

Hello lovelies! Tonight I cooked Shanghai Pasta! It is a childhood favorite because my best friend's dad used to cook it all the time for her and I would taste some of hers during lunchtime at school hehe. It is a very simple dish with good flavor! Usually it includes bell peppers and shrimp but my boyfriend doesn't eat those so this was without those!
1. Boil Pasta (any kind)
2. Stir fry string beans with chopped garlic. Cook longer and add some water if you like beans softer

3. Add sausages (this is optional! We used this instead of shrimp or chicken)

4. Combine them and cook together

5. Make sauce: 2 Tsp soy sauce, 1 tsp sesame oil, a few scoops of plum sauce (I eyeballed this one because I loveeeee plum sauce. It's the main flavor in this dish) and hot sauce is optional!

6. Drain the pasta well and add it into the veggies and meat and mix.

7. Add the sauce and mix well!

Easy! Let me know if you have any questions :)
